Global Liberty Alliance Launches the U.S.-Cuba Claims Archive, a Searchable Record of Certified Claims Against the Cuban Government

The Global Liberty Alliance (GLA) today announced the U.S.-Cuba Claims Archive, a free, searchable resource documenting the certified U.S. property claims against the Cuban government adjudicated by the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission (FCSC).

​These certified claims, the product of formal federal adjudication, represent the recognized and espoused universe of American losses from Cuba's confiscations; yet for decades the record of them has been difficult for claimants, researchers, and the public to access in any organized form.

​The U.S.-Cuba Claims Archive consolidates that record into a single searchable place, so that claimant families, scholars, journalists, and policymakers can find what the Commission actually certified.

"These claims were adjudicated by the United States government decades ago; the difficulty has never been their validity, but the ability to see and understand them," said Mauricio Tamargo, GLA Board Member. "Making the certified record open and searchable is a step toward the transparency any just resolution will eventually require."
