Fr. Fernando Hería, Senior Advisor
Born Oct. 13, 1950, in Cuba, he came to the U.S. with his family at age 11, graduated from Hialeah High School and served in the U.S. Army.
He entered the seminary at age 40, after 13 years as a criminal defense attorney, and was ordained for the Archdiocese of Miami in 1996. In addition to his duties as pastor, he also serves as a judge in the Metropolitan Tribunal. Currently Fr. Hería is Rector at Our Lady of Charity National Shrine. Fr. Hería was instrumental in bringing together a wide range of Cuban Diaspora political, social, labor, cultural, intellectual, religious and human rights organizations, committed to reconciliation and to a non-violent transition in Cuba to a sovereign state under the rule of law.
