(Alexandria, Virginia) The Global Liberty Alliance joined over twenty leading conservative organizations supporting a private Christian college in Point Lookout, Missouri, the College of the Ozarks. The effort to file the "friend of the court" brief in this matter was led by Advancing American Freedom. At issue in this case is whether the Biden administration can require School of the Ozarks, Inc., doing business as College of the Ozarks, a Christian college in Missouri, to open its dormitories, including dorm rooms and shared shower spaces, to members of the opposite sex or face fines of up to six figures, punitive damages, and attorneys' fees. The College of the Ozarks argues that this mandate violates its sincerely held religious beliefs and that it should be exempt from the requirement. The case raises significant questions about the extent of religious freedom and the government's power to regulate private institutions. Several Christian colleges, advocacy groups, and nineteen states have filed friend-of-the-court briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court, urging it to consider a case involving a Missouri Christian college. The college was mandated by the Biden administration to open its dormitories, including dorm rooms and shared shower spaces, to individuals of the opposite sex, or face hefty fines, punitive damages, and legal fees. The College has Already Suffered Harm as a Result of the Biden administration directive and, if its standing is denied by the Supreme Court, the harm Will continue, with the ever-Looming possibility of even greater harm if the federal government opts to an investigation or case against the college.
