On November 17, Global Liberty Alliance partner Ms. Sabrina V. Peláez, an attorney, and Mr. Christian Núñez met with the Uruguay national Representative Mr. Javier Radiccioni, who is a member of Uruguay’s Commission of Human Rights and Petitions. At the meeting’s conclusion, the parties agreed that the Uruguayan legislator would undertake a Request for Reports, through the Uruguayan House of Representatives, to the different national agencies involved in the agreements with Cuba. In the meeting, Ms. Peláez and Mr. Núñez explained the exploitation that Cuban medical professionals suffered both in Uruguay and internationally, and how the Castro dictatorship uses the program as a tool to finance itself. Mr. Núñez described the political implications of the program locally and nationally for Uruguay. Ms. Peláez gave evidence of human rights violations in the program, and strongly urged Representative Radiccioni and the Uruguayan government to take action to end the program.
The meeting was part of Global Liberty Alliance's initiative to uncover allegations and evidence of human rights abuses and corruption related to the Cuban international medical missions. Read more about the Uruguay Cuban Medical Mission Files. Comments are closed.
