GLA Files Complaint with UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention for Cuban-American Hostage Alina López

Today, the Global Liberty Alliance filed a complaint with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) on behalf of Alina Lopez Miyares, a U.S. Citizen unlawfully imprisoned in Cuba since 2017.

The WGAD, a working group within the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights (OHCHR), is dedicated to advocating for the unlawfully imprisoned worldwide. In October 2020, Cuba was reelected to the U.N.'s Human Rights Council, despite wide international protest. 

The international support is particular urgent as Ms. Lopez recently learned that she is suffering from numerous health ailments that require immediate medical attention, including renal insufficiency.
