On July 19, 2021, several members of the Association of Free Yorubas of Cuba were charged as a result of participation in peaceful protests that broke out in provinces all across the island on July 11.
Those charged, including Yorubas members Loreto Hernandez Garcia, Donaida Perez Paseiro and Elizabeth Cintra Garcia, all unlawfully arrested and held in police custody following the demonstrations, will be detained in a provisional prison as a precautionary measure until a trial is held.
Other members that are also being unlawfully detained include twin sisters Lisdiany Rodriguez Isak and Lisdany Rodriguez Isak, as well as Dayron Dadi Larrondo. Read the complete press release HERE and below:
